Cuan & Chandre’s Country Wedding
The 9th February passed us by fairly recently and being the month of love, after all, made me nostalgic for Cuan & Chandre’s gorgeous Swellendam country wedding. It was literally 2 years in the making and happened 2 years ago! It has taken so long to post because, well, it was busy during that time and then it was 2020… But now is as good a time as any to celebrate love, laughter, connection, happy gatherings of people… and no masks!
A Hollywood, Gatsby, Speakeasy-style Garden Party…
As you can imagine, chatting with a couple for 2 years about one of their most important days, builds a solid friendship. Cuan & Chandre became exactly that. They were so easy and relaxed to work with and we had a ball planning each detail. Chandre wanted a Hollywood, Gatsby, Speakeasy, 20’s flapper-style outdoor garden party and our property was the perfect fit!

Their country wedding weekend kicked off with a braai on the banks of the Breede River at the Bontebok Park on the Friday evening. The ceremony and reception on Saturday and finishing off with a long family table breakfast on Sunday morning. On Saturday, there were games and snacks and drinks and then the ceremony and then a more sophisticated sit-down dinner (and drinks) and dancing and best of all a ‘dessert station’ (and drinks!) Who doesn’t love a dessert station? With macarons, profiteroles, lemon tarts, homemade chilli fudge, homemade marshmallows, milk tarts…. sigh. With the evening ending off with a whiskey bar and cheese & biscuits. The weekend was full and rich and happy. We loved it.

Perfect for small, intimate celebrations…
We only have the capacity to host one or two weddings a year, so they become very personal and precious to us. We love the beautiful energy they bring to our grand old dame and we are perfectly suited for small, intimate celebrations (especially now!).
